Asia Minor this time is the only Minor that does not have open qualifications and is only followed by teams that immediately received an invitation, including:

  • Flash Gaming
  • ViCi
  • MVP PK
  • The MongolZ
  • Renegades
  • Tainted Minds
  • Kings

This suddenly made some big teams from Asia and Oceania disappointed and made an open letter through CSGO2ASIA on behalf of the Asian & Oceanic CS: GO Community you can read more details here.

This Open Letter itself is written intended for the people concerned at Valve, as well Mr. Min-Sik Ko which is known is Vice President of Tournament Operations at ELEAGUE as well as related people.

In the open letter, they expressed their disappointment with the upcoming regulations for Asia Minor, which had several negative impacts on the competitive scene in Asia in particular. Asia Minor, which in fact should be filled by teams from Asia, does not even have a representation from teams from Southeast Asia, South Asia / Middle East, and also East Asia which makes players and teams from these regions unable to prove themselves who are the best in Asia.

They also asked that the qualification be held as a Minor should be run, they also added how the slots for the team that will compete in Asia Minor should be used if the qualifiers are used.

This open letter was supported by many parties as well as teams from Asia and Oceania, and was even signed by Suhadi “recca“Wijaya who is the CEO & Founder of Recca Esports, as well Aerowolf represented by their manager, Jimmy “CrystaLv” Lie

The following is the opinion of a senior CS: GO in Indonesia, Ershad Riansyah:

At least they have to give 1 slot from the qualifications, but if they look from the quality side, it is only natural that teams from China and Australia immediately get direct invite.

Asia Minor itself will be held on October 26-29 in Seoul, South Korea to win a total prize pool of $ 50,000 USD. In addition, 1st and 2nd place winners in this tournament will be entitled to represent Asia in ELEAGUE Major 2018 which will be held in Boston.

But unfortunately Asia Minor this time will have close time and even clash with several other tournaments which are also participated by some of their participating teams, such as MVP PK who will follow ROG Masters – APAC Main Qualifier 2017 on October 25-29, there are also Flash Gaming, Kings Gaming Club, and Vici Gaming who will participate in ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia on 19-22 October. Besides China’s strong team, Tyloo just got an invitation to qualify to enter Wild card EPICENTER 2017 which will be held on 23 October.
