If you’ve ever thought, are there any scholarships for esports? Maybe you are interested in the University of Toronto, Canada. The scholarship was funded by an alumnus from the University of Toronto, Victor Xin.
This scholarship will be awarded to students who enter Applied Science & Engineering with a GPA of at least 3.5 passion in esports or games, and participate in the UofT esports club. U of T did not explain how much the scholarships were awarded, but explained that the first scholarships were awarded in the fall of 2018.
When asked why Victor Xin gave scholarships, he explained that there are many ways to develop a campus in different ways as an alternative to learning for leadership and success in real life. In addition, he said E-Sports might not be familiar with it, but we shouldn’t let e-sports fall.
According to the campus website, Xin played Starcraft when he entered the Engineer program in 2008 and pioneered the U of T esports club. Now, he plays Dota2 when he has free time.
“I hope that esports will be better known and more attractive to the public,” said Xin. “Then students who are interested in esports can get the recognition they deserve and the support they need to succeed,” he added.
